timbo diddly do

Mostly to do with my Mojo. Often fixed by pushing off out to sea.

Needing fresh air adventures

2024 was a year of Sails. Not Trips, just loads of new Sails,

Early on, a trip to Swanage and back became a bit of a nail biter. Coming back after an early start, the offshore wind just grew and grew. I only had my small jib up and by the time I hit the Needles I was topping 10 knots over the ground. By the time we hit gentler waters the sail had completely disintegrated, torn from top to toe.

Luck was on my side. A quick scan of Ebay , I purchased an unused Sobstad Genoa for little money.

Timbo is an old boat, and I wanted to try her with a regular Spinnaker, so I got my hand on a red and white one by Holt, so very old. This worked a treat, but my poleage was not really up for the task, so when I saw a brand new spinnaker advertised locally I swapped back to asymmetric. Boy is this sail powerful.

By October, I noticed the mainsail fabric finally crumbling. So I looked to have a new one made. But as luck would have it, the algorithms of the ether yielded up a new set of North Sails.

Now i'm just waiting to give these a blast..
